300: Three Centuries of Posting Shit

Well, not literally shit.
I feel it's noteworthy stuff to read, myself. ;)

This past weekend was pretty good.
The weather was good except for a couple rain showers that, luckily, didn't last too long.
Why should that matter?
Because rain means wet roads which reduce speed while riding my WR-250XX, silly.
Why else? :)

I had a couple of good rides on Saturday and Sunday, and my mind was off work while on the bike.
That is an awesome feeling, you know, leaving work at work and concentrating on riding the bike.
On top of that, we're at the start of the really good riding weather, and for the immediate future, it will only continue to get better.
No wonder this is my favorite time of year. :)

The bike felt and worked very well.
The engine ran crisply and strongly and never missed a beat, the rear shock was very good, the front fork was good, the handling and feel was very good, the front brake was very good, and the Michelin tires were downright excellent, as they always seem to be.
I pity any poor sap who mounts junk tires to his motorcycle.

I also watched some motorcycle racing on TV.
Village Post Office won the AMA Supercross title, as most were expecting, and Beef Stewart continued on his trend of crashing a lot.
Hopefully, he can get out of that habit because, quite frankly, it hampers the quality of the racing action.

There was also a World Superbike round from Monza, Italy.
It was some good action and it's a fast track, with straights of over 200 mph on the WSBK Superbikes.
Factory Yamaha rider Eugene Laverty won both races on his works YZF-R1, and he rode very well to get them.
Marco Melandri said he was hampered by not getting his bike setup to his liking, but he still got 4th and 2nd, almost winning race 2.

Melandri is a pleasant surprise to me because I wondered if he'd basically be in I'm-nearing-retirement mode once the WSBK season started.
Wrong.
He's a front-runner, and has already won a race this season and is 2nd in points behind Carlos Chucka.

The big talk of the race weekend with WSBK is how Max Biaggi was awarded a ride-through penalty for blowing through a chicane, reentering the track, increasing his lead over 2nd place as a result of the incident, and was then penalized for it.
This put him down in an 8th place finish for race 2 (he got 2nd in race 1).
I imagine the wop fans were hopping up and down, crying, "Mongia!"

The last time I remember seeing the leader of a road race get a penalty was back in 2003 in a MotoGP race, where Valintino Rossi did something to get awarded a docking of time.
He still won the race because when he realized the time dockage was going to happen, he simply increased his lead more than the time dockage was worth. :)

Well, off to drudgery, AKA jerk,
-John
